SA Series – Design for explosive and combustible wet scrubber dust collection –

The SA series is a wet dust collector designed to collect magnesium dust, with a collection efficiency of 99%. It's no surprise that wet dust collectors have low collection performance. Dry dust collectors cannot collect magnesium alloy dust. To solve these problems, Amano developed the SA Series wet scrubber dust collector, which combines dust explosion prevention features with high collection performance.

Three conditions leading to dust explosions

1. Oxygen
2. Dust in a concentration higher than the explosion lower limit threshold
3. Minimum ignition energy

Dust explosions occur when the 3 conditions of “oxygen,” “Dust concentration higher than explosion threshold,” and “minimum ignition energy” are all present. If even just 1 of these conditions can be eliminated, then dust explosions can be prevented. So the crucial point in preventing explosions is eliminating sources of sparks. Also, we need safety measures to protect your staff and facility from dust explosions, just in case.

Dust Explosion Prevention and Protection

Dust explosion-proof motor

Electric motors, for instance, involve moving parts that can cause sparking. Dust explosion-proof motor is designed to prevent the invasion of the outside substances and is designed to eliminate risks of sparks.

Explosion Vent

In the unlikely event of an explosion inside the dust collector, the top lid opens to release the blast and prevent internal pressure buildup.

Hydrogen Vent Valve

This valve releases explosive hydrogen gas generated by the reaction between magnesium alloy and water from inside the dust collector to the outside. Its top-mounted location prevents hydrogen accumulation.

Butterfly Check Valve

In the unlikely event of an explosion inside the dust collector, this valve prevents the blast and flames from backflowing into the dust collection piping. It significantly reduces pressure loss compared to conventional models.

Water Level Sensor/Automatic Water Supply Valve

The water level inside the dust collector is automatically adjusted by the water level sensor and automatic water supply valve. Operation automatically shuts down if the water level becomes abnormal.

Exhaust Muffler

For increased safety, exhaust gas does not come into contact with the motor.

Water Sprinkler Gun

This water sprinkler gun sprays water inside the wet dust collector to wash away any dust particles adhering to it.
